How can I prevent spam in my forum and/or guest book?
The easiest way to prevent spam is to go into the forum or guestbook editor and set it to accept registered handles only.
If you want to allow unregistered visitors to post in your forum or guestbook there are a few other things you can do. You can do any or all of the following:
1. In your forum or guest book setup options check "yes" for activity notification. You will be notified in e-mail if someone makes an entry in your guestbook.
2. In your forum or guest book setup options check "yes" to preapprove entries. You will then be able to preapprove all entries before accepting them into your guestbook.
3. You can utilize ISP Flood Control in your forum or guest book setup options by setting the number of allowed entries to the number you wish bewteen 0 and 999.
- Setting to zero "0" will only allow previously accepted ISPs to post.
- Leaving blank will ignore this option allowing all ISPs to post freely.
Whenever a friend or acquaintance posts in your guestbook you'll then go back into the guest book editor and approve their ISP. I recommend a low number, say 2 or 3. This should give you ample opportunity to approve or reject ISP's.
